Mark Langdale Hough Violins

Mark Langdale Hough Gold Label violin 2011
This Gold Label violin is made from 150-year-old spruce and maple, cut during the years Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume was making instruments, and very likely growing when Antonio Stradivari was alive. The aged maple has a deep, dramatic flame, which is further enhanced by the use of a golden-red oil varnish, handmade using pure Baltic amber. The wood's density, particular to wood of a certain age, allows for a mature sound quality found often in fine older instruments. Its rich bass, even tone, and vibrant projection make it ideal for both soloist and group performances. I invite you to appreciate for yourself the tone and aesthetic quality of a classic Cremonese violin in this contemporary American instrument.
